Health and safety workshop 2021

In April, we had our 2021 Christchurch Health and Safety workshop which invited our builders and contractors to hear from a range of speakers about how we can stay safe on site.

We got into groups and the afternoon included:

  • General awareness training from MATES in Construction New Zealand covering suicide in the construction industry and ways we can help a mate that's struggling.
  • A talk from Kelvin Sparks from Health and Safety at Work on hazardous substances and the importance of caution when working with them.
  • A scaffold demonstration from Skyhigh Scaffolding and the importance of the tunnel method.

The next day some of our team members volunteered to go to the connector training with MATES in Construction. These team members volunteered to be trained to help keep someone in a crisis safe and connecting them to professional help. We are so proud of our team for putting their hands up to do this training and raising awareness for mental health and suicide prevention.
